Alisha Butts: Designer

I am a lover of design, art, interiors, architecture and anything creative. A designer. Period.
I see myself as a multidisciplinary designer rather than a designer stuck within one particular realm of design. Hence why I prefer to call myself just a ‘Designer.’ I work throughout a variety of dimensions, a variety of media, use a variety of tools and go from designer to artist to craftsperson even somtimes to carpenter. Often moving from 4D to 3D to 2D all within a single project. I love exploring the technical more modern side of design thorough the computer and web design to then using my hands and more traditional tools and techniques and combining everything together to really create somthing new, fresh, and innovative. I love a challenge and conquering new things which is why I love exploring all areas of design, artand architecture as it really stretchs your mind and forces you to learn new things, try new ideas and figure out how to make them all work. I feel in opening your mind to all areas of design and all creative ways of thinking for each individual project you can come up with somthing much more amazing and innovative than if you get stuck in a single design mind set, a single area with set rules. Innovation and creativity often come from breaking the rules.
This also extends into my love of creating and my sideline company; alisha elizabeth where I can really let my hands and my mind create things that I enjoy, push the boundries of design and explore all sorts of new territory. I love designing furntiure, lighting and homewares, which is a major feature of alisha alizabeth, and which is constantly developing. I love this small outlet where I can throw away all predefined ideas and just really open my mind and create things that I want to create. I also have a strong tendancy to work within the realms of sustainibility, recycling and natural resources. Creating treasure from trash , using natural products and trying to use every componant of my materials, what I might discard for one project I try to use for another.
